Frank Turner‘s 2013 is certainly well and truly underway! Having somehow managed to play twenty-seven gigs since January, the British folk-punk powerhouse recently announced that his fifth studio album, Tape Deck Heart, is due for release on the 22nd of April—I don’t know how he does it!
Anyway, today sees the release of the first single from the album, Recovery, and its accompanying video. It bears a strong similarity to Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing In The Dark; a seemingly upbeat song, but with a far more bleak lyric than you might first notice. Turner himself has said that the creation of this album was intertwined with the end of a relationship, so it wouldn’t surprise me if one or two more break-up songs were to appear on the record.
The album will be released on both Xtra Mile and Interscope, and you can pre-order it from iTunes now, receiving Recovery as an available download straight away. If you’re a physical aficionado, however, you have the option of both standard or deluxe editions of the CD, a 12″ LP or even a cassette tape. Yes, that’s right, Tape Deck Heart on cassette; brilliant!
